Instead of immunities being a means to protect the nation, they have turned into shields behind which those who harm it hide, making criticism of corruption a risk, and the honest speaker may be accused of being "against the state," or pursued under the guise of "character assassination"; a flexible term that makes the victim the accused, and the guilty innocent.
Thus, many who are passionate about their country have chosen silence, fearing the consequences, leaving the field open for political traders who have tampered with the state's fortunes, mortgaging the citizen's sustenance and dignity for narrow interests.
To achieve true justice, it is essential to enact a law we have long awaited: "Where did you get this from"; a law that accounts for everyone around whom suspicions of corruption revolve without exception, covering both old and new cases, because nations only rise when injustice is lifted, rights are restored, and the wrongdoer is held accountable, no matter their position.
And let's not forget that corruption has toppled empires throughout history... including Rome itself. Shall we take heed before it's too late?
