Khaberni - Government Communication Minister and Government Spokesman, Mohammad Al-Momani, emphasized that the accelerating challenges in digital space have become a shared responsibility requiring collective action, confirming that misinformation, hate speech, and privacy violations constitute the most dangerous threats of the digital age.
Al-Momani said, during his participation in the ICON summit for content and media industry held on Wednesday in the capital Amman, that technological advancements have contributed to the rapid spread of misinformation, while the expansion of digital platforms has provided more space for hate speech, in addition to the direct influences that algorithms impose on content, as well as the risks of unregulated artificial intelligence.
He affirmed that confronting these challenges cannot be done by any government or sector alone, pointing out the necessity for cooperation between governments, media institutions, technology companies, content producers, and civil society to ensure a digital environment that is safe and respectful to both people and information.
Al-Momani explained that the Ministry of Government Communication is working on developing a modern national communication system that enhances transparency and builds public trust, providing information accurately and quickly, alongside supporting positive and responsible content.
The ministry also continues its efforts in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in the sectors of digital media and advanced technologies, according to Al-Momani.
