Khaberni - Student Mohammed Raed Ghanem from the second year in the Department of Jurisprudence and its Foundations at the Faculty of Sharia in the University of Jordan, won first place in the "Skillful" competition in the Holy Quran at the level of Jordanian universities, after a strong competition that brought him together with his colleague from the University of Jordan, Tamim Thawabi from the Faculty of Arts in the final stage, confirming his distinction in memorizing, reciting, and understanding the meanings of the Holy Quran.
Ghanem's victory came in the fifth edition of the competition organized by the Skillful Quranic Association, which targeted in some of its activities students from official and private Jordanian universities within the "Jordanian Universities Challenge" track, aiming to develop promising skills in memorizing and understanding the Quran, enabling youth to master correct reading and understanding of the text, and encouraging them to connect with the Book of Allah the Almighty.
Ghanem had passed through multiple stages of qualifiers to reach the final, which witnessed a distinguished participation of students from Jordanian universities, before he ultimately clinched the title in a competition whose themes focused on memorization, understanding the meanings, Tajweed, alongside practical applications in Quranic performance.
On his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Kilani, congratulated student Ghanem on this achievement, affirming that his win is a fruit of the academic programs and curriculum plans offered by the faculty to prepare and scientifically and knowledgeably qualify its students, enabling them to compete at local, regional, and international levels.
Al-Kilani added that this participation was the first for the college's students in the competition, which was crowned by Ghanem securing the first place, urging the college's students and all university students to follow his example and participate in activities concerned with the Quran and its Tajweed and learning its vocabulary; for "there is no loser with the Quran, and no higher status than that of its memorizer," he said.
It is noteworthy that the Skillful Quranic Association is a civic association concerned with serving the Holy Quran, launching a suite of competitions aimed at enabling students in multiple tracks, including memorizing the entire Quran, memorizing vocabulary, theoretical and practical Tajweed, and preparing participants for major competitions, in addition to the "Young Skillful" competition aimed at children to develop their capabilities in memorization and Tajweed.
