Khaberni - Minister of Energy, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, stated that the company assigned to evaluate and exploit copper in the area of Abu Khashibah has met the necessary conditions according to the applicable legislations and the direct offering system.
Al-Kharabsheh clarified in a session during the fifth session of the House of Representatives of the second ordinary term, responding to "skeptical" parliamentary inquiries about the company's foundation age, that it is an old and well-known company which has proven its technical expertise and financial solvency.
Regarding its recent establishment, Al-Kharabsheh explained that the law requires a foreign investor to register a local company, confirming that this has misled observers to think it is newly established.
This was discussed during the deputies' debate on the bill to ratify the implementation agreement for the evaluation, development, and exploitation of copper and associated minerals in (area of Abu Khashibah) concluded between the government represented by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Wadi Araba Minerals Company and the license for exploration, development, operation, and production of minerals (copper and associated minerals) and marketing them to Wadi Araba Minerals Company for the year 2025, to the Energy and Mineral Resources Committee.
