Tomato Prices Plummet in Jordanian Markets

Khaberni - Tomato prices have dropped to record low levels in the Amman central market, ranging from 5 to 10 piasters per kilogram, due to the influx of a large amount of agricultural products into the market on Sunday morning, totaling 2482 tons of vegetables, according to the official bulletin issued by the Greater Amman Municipality market.

The market also saw a large abundance of fruit quantities, reaching 955 tons, in addition to 323 tons of leafy greens such as mint and parsley.

The abundance of supply reflected a varying decrease in the prices of several items, with potato prices ranging between 15 and 30 piasters, dry onions between 10 and 30 piasters, while cucumber prices stabilized between 25 and 40 piasters, and cauliflower prices decreased to between 10 and 30 piasters.

The round black eggplant was traded between 10 and 25 piasters, carrot prices ranged between 40 and 60 piasters, while lemons remained the highest priced among vegetables at 60 to 100 piasters per kilogram. The price of local bananas ranged between 50 and 85 piasters.
