Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II held separate meetings today, Tuesday, with the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives Fukushiro Nukaga, President of the Japanese House of Councillors Masakazu Sekiguchi, and President of the Jordanian-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Committee Kazunori Tanaka.
The meetings, held in the capital Tokyo, discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region.
His Majesty the King affirmed the depth of the strategic partnership between Jordan and Japan, and the keenness to enhance it, especially in the parliamentary fields.
The talks also touched on the developmental and economic projects that Japan is implementing in Jordan, where His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the support Japan provides for such projects.
His Majesty the King affirmed Jordan's commitment to implementing the economic modernization vision aimed at enhancing growth and providing job opportunities, pointing to the facilities offered by the Kingdom to encourage investment.
The meetings explored the latest developments in the Middle East, where His Majesty emphasized the need to ensure adherence to the agreement to end the war in Gaza and to enhance the humanitarian response, appreciating Japan's supportive stance of these efforts.
With the presence of HRH Prince Ghazi bin Mohammed, His Majesty the King's Chief Advisor for Religious and Cultural Affairs and His Majesty’s Personal Envoy, His Majesty the King warned of the dangers of assaults on Palestinians in the West Bank, and violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
His Majesty stressed that a just and comprehensive peace is the only way to end the conflict in the region, based on a two-state solution.
The meetings were attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, Director of His Majesty's Office Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, and the Jordanian Ambassador to Japan Nasser Judeh.
