Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality has declared a state of emergency (extreme water) starting from Saturday morning, in order to deal with the weather depression affecting the kingdom.
The media spokesperson for the Amman Municipality, Nasser Rahamneh, confirmed the readiness of the municipality's field teams to handle any reports received at the Tla' Al-Ali emergency room, urging citizens to call the unified contact center numbers (102 and 117180) if they notice any issues.
Rahamneh urged citizens to take precautions and be careful, to stay away from watercourses and low-lying areas, and to avoid randomly disposing of waste; as it leads to the clogging of rainwater drainage lines.
He emphasized the importance of checking submersible pumps in basements and commercial shops located below street level, and urged merchants to take precautionary measures when storing goods in warehouses and basement floors.
He also urged contractors and owners of construction projects to secure building materials to prevent them from being swept away and directly causing the clogging of rainwater drainage lines.
