Khaberni - The chair of the Bani Obeid municipal committee, engineer Manar Al-Radaida, confirmed that the lack of coordination between some service entities and municipalities causes significant confusion for citizens and the destruction of infrastructure, especially after contractors from water, telecommunications, or electricity institutions dig in the streets and leave them without rehabilitation.
Al-Radaida explained that the municipality is sometimes surprised by excavations without any prior coordination, pointing out that some contractors do not consult the municipality at all, which forces it to contact the administrative governor and stop the works immediately until the necessary permits are issued.
She confirmed that the municipality withholds financial guarantees from the contractors until the situation is restored as it was before, and strict measures will be taken against any contractor who oversteps or causes damage to public roads, including banning them from working within the district.
Regarding the excavation near Prince Rashid Military Hospital, which caused controversy on social media, Al-Radaida clarified that its cause was a water line leakage that had been repaired by the water authority, yet the street had not been rehabilitated properly, affirming that the municipality immediately intervened to repair the hole in service to the citizens.
She added that the Bani Obeid municipality has completed 95% of the cleaning works of culverts and stream channels in preparation for the winter season, and is also working on maintaining lighting units and roads as part of a tender worth one million and 800 thousand dinars covering various areas of the district.
Al-Radaida concluded by inviting service institutions to enhance coordination with municipalities to avoid confusion and protect the safety of citizens, affirming that random work serves no one, and the citizen is the first to suffer from it.
