Important Warning from the Civil Defense to Jordanians

Khaberni - The Civil Defense Directorate has renewed its warnings about the dangers of dealing with water wells and cleaning them using traditional dangerous methods.

It emphasized the necessity to adhere to all advice, instructions, and general safety steps during the maintenance and cleaning of wells. It urged caution when engaging with wells and water tanks, avoiding descending into them without taking general safety precautions, ensuring sufficient ventilation, not lowering fuel-operated water suction engines that can cause suffocation, using appropriate protective means, to safeguard their safety and prevent the repetition of such incidents, and seeking help from professionals specialized in cleaning wells.

It pointed out that despite numerous warnings, reports of falling and suffocation accidents inside water wells are still received.

It clarified that the personnel of the West Irbid Civil Defense Directorate dealt with an incident where an individual fell into an empty water well seven meters deep in the Governorate of Irbid while performing maintenance on it, resulting in a moderate injury, and handled another similar incident responded to by the Central Amman Civil Defense Directorate crews in the capital province, which also resulted in a moderate injury.
