Khaberni - His Majesty King Abdullah II expressed his appreciation, during his visit to the Jordanian Judicial Council today, Monday, for the ongoing efforts of the judiciary workers to enshrine the rule of law and establish justice.
His Majesty directed, during his meeting with the president and members of the council, the president of the Judicial Council to form a specialized committee to develop the judiciary and conduct a comprehensive assessment to come out with recommendations that build on previous achievements.
His Majesty emphasized that an independent and fair judiciary is a fundamental pillar for the progress of the state and the protection of rights and freedoms, pointing to the necessity of continuing to develop the institutional management of the Judicial Council and providing it with the necessary tools to enhance judicial independence.
His Majesty also stressed the need to focus on judges, and provide specialized training programs and staff to enable them to perform their tasks with high efficiency, while providing a suitable environment for their work and improving judicial facilities.
His Majesty pointed out the importance of expediting and simplifying litigation procedures without affecting the conditions of a fair trial and the quality of judgments, and developing legislation and judicial procedures to keep pace with technological advancement, and enhancing coordination with concerned institutions.
His Majesty emphasized the importance of establishing specialized divisions within the judicial system to boost investors' confidence and encourage them to invest in Jordan.
His Majesty discussed in his speech the importance of enhancing guarantees of a fair trial and the development and modernization of juvenile justice and penal policy, and the expansion of the application of alternative sanctions.
His Majesty mentioned that it is necessary for the committee to review the judicial procedures, in implementation of the previous recommendations of the Royal Committee for the Development of the Judiciary.
On his part, Mahmoud Al-Ababneh, the president of the Judicial Council, reviewed the achievements of the judicial device, and the plans for its development to keep up with the developments in litigation, including the use of modern technology and what the council has achieved in the field of digitizing the judiciary.
Al-Ababneh pointed out that facilitating access to justice, entrenching the rule of law, and building an attractive judicial environment for investment are pillars of judiciary development.
In turn, the members of the council spoke about His Majesty's keenness on enhancing the independence of the judiciary and developing legislation to match the developments of the era, as well as entrenching the rule of law and the citizens' and investors' confidence in the judiciary.
His Majesty was accompanied by the chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Youssef Hassan Al-Issawi, and the director of His Majesty's office, Engineer Alaa Al-Bataineh.
