Greater Amman Municipality learns from the Chinese experience

Khaberni - Greater Amman Municipality participated in a seminar on biodiversity conservation for "Belt and Road" countries, within the framework of dual carbon neutrality goals, held in the People's Republic of China from October 14 to 27, 2025, organized by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Shenyang Normal University.

This participation is part of the ongoing efforts of Greater Amman Municipality to enhance international cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of biodiversity protection, dual carbon neutrality, and achieving sustainable development goals, in line with Jordan's economic modernization vision.

The Municipality was represented in this international program by the Director of the Department of Environmental Studies and Awareness, Engineer Basem Al-Hawamdeh, the City Area Director, Engineer Ibrahim Dhuib, the Tla Al-Ali Area Director, Engineer Hussein Al-Shawabkeh, and Engineer Ismail Al-Huneiti.

The program's proceedings dealt with the Chinese experience in integrating environmental protection with economic development, showcasing practical models in the fields of sustainable management of natural resources and green urban planning, in addition to discussing opportunities for transferring and adapting best international practices that serve Jordanian national strategies in the environment and development.

Al-Hawamdeh presented a speech titled "Diversity, Protection, and Climate Resilience," in which he outlined the Municipality's future plans to enhance climate resilience and support environmental sustainability based on the knowledge gained from the seminar.

He also praised the efforts of the Chinese parties in organizing this enriching meeting, which served as an active platform for exchanging knowledge and building future cooperation bridges between Amman and the participating cities.
