Khaberni - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his country will receive an additional number of Mirage fighters from France, while at the same time pointing out that Britain will continue to supply Kyiv with air defense means.
Zelensky said in a video speech published on the Telegram channel: "I would like to express my gratitude to Britain and France. There is a decision regarding additional Mirage fighters for Ukraine and air defense missiles. Britain will continue to assist with air defense, with missiles and the production of intercept drones."
It is worth mentioning that Kyiv received the first batch of the French Mirage fighter from Paris in February of this year. At that time, Sebastien Lecornu, the then French Minister of Armed Forces, did not specify the total number of fighters to be delivered. However, it is now known that at least one of the planes delivered by France has crashed due to a technical fault.
On the ground, three people were killed and more than thirty were injured, including seven children in Kyiv in a Russian attack with drones, according to Ukrainian officials, Sunday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily speech that on Saturday night to Sunday “three people were killed and 31 others were injured in the Russian attack on Kyiv alone, including seven children.”
He added, "Within one week, the Russians carried out about a thousand strikes using drones and launched 50 missiles of various types at Ukraine, most of which were ballistic."
He confirmed, "Prevention of a similar threat can only be through a joint effort, as no nation in the world should be left alone to face this situation."
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, had earlier said that fragments of a drone fell on a nine-storey residential building in the Desnyansky district in northeast Kyiv, causing fires in several apartments on different floors.
In the Obolonsky district, drone debris fell on a 16-storey building, according to Klitschko.
The attack occurred the day after four were killed and about twenty were injured in a Russian bombardment on Friday night to Saturday.
On the diplomatic front, US President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday that he "will not waste his time" preparing for a new meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin without there being indications of reaching an agreement to stop the war in Ukraine.
He said, "I need to know that we will make an agreement," adding, "I have always had excellent relationships with Vladimir Putin, but this matter has been very disappointing."
