Khaberni - Former Member of Parliament Captain Mohammad El-Khashman shared a post on his social media page expressing his national pride and concern for the state of the Jordanian economy, questioning why the gross national product remains at modest levels despite the significant potential of the nation.
El-Khashman stated that he feels jealous when he reads about countries whose gross national product includes billions of dollars from expatriates' remittances, while the number of Jordanians working abroad is negligible, despite their high competence and their ability to compete and innovate.
He added that he feels jealous when he sees countries support their national exports and stimulate them to earn billions of dollars for their economy, while there is no real encouragement for national exports in Jordan, which makes their contribution to the gross national product limited and weak.
El-Khashman mentioned that he feels sad when he observes the level of facilities provided by countries around the world for investment in agriculture, mining, industry, tourism, and transportation sectors, while the facilities in Jordan remain limited, reducing the chances of attracting small and medium investments.
He explained that the private sector in the world is considered the main driver of the economy and receives full support, while this sector in Jordan still faces difficulties and a lack of genuine recognition of its role as a main source of the gross national product.
El-Khashman expressed his astonishment that the gross national product in Jordan does not exceed fifty billion dinars, confirming that the reasons lie in the lack of strategic plans, poor management of national resources, scattered efforts among immediate solutions, weak exploitation of natural resources, lack of support for local investments, and increased reliance on imports instead of national products.
El-Khashman concluded his post by saying, "May God protect Jordan, its people, leadership, and beloved and noble nation, steadfast against various challenges."
