Khaberni - The head of the new Birin municipal committee in the Zarqa Governorate, Ahmad Al-Farahid, stated that the municipality intends to establish a cable car project in the area, which would enhance local development and activate tourism.
Al-Farahid said in a statement to the Jordanian News Agency (Petra) on Tuesday, "The municipality aims to enhance its role in local community development, by marketing the area as a tourist destination to attract investments," explaining that "the idea of establishing Birin cable car is still under study and assessment, and it will serve all the surrounding governorates."
He added, "If the project is implemented, the cable car route is expected to be about one and a half kilometers long one way, and one and a half kilometers back, starting from the Prince Hashim Park to the opposite northern side."
He noted that the route would include a stage where elevation allows a panoramic view for the rider, where they will see several governorates of the surrounding area, emphasizing that this project plays a significant role in achieving several goals, including attracting investments and local community development.
Al-Farahid explained that the municipality organized a field visit today to the proposed Birin cable car project site, with the participation of the head of Zarqa Governorate Council, Engineer Jamal Abu Eid, and the head of the Architectural Engineering Department at Zarqa University, Dr. Noura Qaza’.
During the tour, Abu Eid confirmed that the Engineers Syndicate in Zarqa seeks to support projects that contribute to the development of governorates, create engineering job opportunities, and enhance the partnership between the public and private sectors, noting that the cable car project aligns with the vision of economic modernization and the national tourism strategy.
Qaza’ expressed the university's readiness to provide technical and advisory support through the expertise of academics and students, which enhances the innovative aspect of design and planning.
This project is part of the municipality’s efforts to enhance local development, as previously, the municipality implemented, in cooperation with the International Labour Organization, the longitudinal park project at the entrance to the city of Birin which has become a suitable place for visitors to stroll.
