Khaberni - Moroccan artist Mustafa Soulit passed away on Sunday morning at the Tangier University Hospital, suffering from third-degree burns inflicted on him days earlier in the city of Al Hoceima, after he was subjected to a horrific attack in which someone poured a flammable substance over his body and set him on fire in front of bystanders.

The crime occurred a few days ago on Zallaqa Street in downtown Al Hoceima, when the assailant surprised Mustafa Soulit, a person of determination, pouring a flammable substance on him before setting fire to his body.

A number of citizens rushed to try to extinguish the flames and save the victim, who was in a critical state, before he was transferred to the Mohammed VI Regional Hospital in Al Hoceima, and then to the University Hospital in Tangier due to the deterioration of his health condition.

The security authorities initiated an immediate investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Al Hoceima, where the suspect was arrested and placed under custodial supervision.

On the other hand, the late Mustafa Soulit excelled in Amazigh Rif music, known for his distinctive voice that combined simplicity of words and depth of meanings, and through his art, he embodied his challenge to reality and his belief that art is a means to express both pain and hope.

Despite his physical disability, he lived a life full of determination and perseverance, settling the world's clamor in a small hut near his home, to devote his time to music and developing his talent, where he learned to play the guitar and wind instruments like the harmonica, to produce melodies that convey the struggles of the rural man and his unique voice, far from the glamor of fame and materialism.
