Khaled El Nabawy excluded from nominations for Mustafa Mahmoud series despite his preparations for the role

Khaberni - In a big surprise, and after camera rehearsals and preparations for the character of the late Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud, and with the artist Khaled El Nabawy announcing that he would present his own biography, Kamla Abu Dhakri, the series' director, surprised the audience by announcing the exclusion of El Nabawy from the nominations, pointing out that preparations for the series are still ongoing, and that there are many aspects of the late scientist's life that need to be focused on.

Abu Dhakri stated in press statements: "Khaled El Nabawy is not the hero of the work that I will be directing. There are a number of nominations, but no actor has been chosen to play the role yet. The project I am directing is not related to any previous work depicting the life of Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud."

Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud's name had topped the search indicators following the announcement by "United Media Services" to produce a television series about him, and the launch of the official promo for the work, scheduled to be shown
in Ramadan season 2027.

Public nominations cause a problem
The announcement of the work caused widespread discussion among social media users about the actors who could play this challenging role, with Khaled El Nabawy being among the top names believed by many to be the most suitable for the character, which caused the ongoing problem around the nominations for the role.

The series is written by Mohamed Hisham Obeya and directed by Kamla Abu Dhakri, and is due to be aired in the upcoming Ramadan drama season, but the cast participating in the series or the number of its episodes has not yet been announced.

Khaled El Nabawy recently responded to some accusations of arrogance in dealing with his colleagues and audience, in statements during a tribute seminar held on the sidelines of the "Cairo International Film Festival", affirming that a change in an artist's attitude or feeling arrogance is unreasonable, pointing out that the history of cinema is rich with major icons such as Adel Imam and Suad Hosni, making it hard for any artist to place their name before theirs.
