Khaberni - In the past few days, there has been widespread controversy across social media platforms about the movie "The Ladder and the Snake 2", directed by Tarek El Aryaan, coinciding with its release on a digital platform. Some believe that the movie contains a great deal of boldness that does not align with family values, prompting the director to break his silence.
Tarek El Aryaan clarified in an interview with the program "et بالعربي" that the film does not include any boldness as some claim, but rather belongs to the genre of social romantic works, stating, "It contains nothing outlandish."
He also pointed out that these criticisms might stem from scenes in the promotional trailer, which did not reveal enough details of the film, leading to inaccurate impressions among the audience.
Tarek El Aryaan concluded his statements by emphasizing that the final judgment should be issued after watching the entire movie, and not based on short promotional clips, explaining: "All the scenes are between a husband and his wife. Even the dance scene, there’s nothing in it. It’s just a wife dancing for her husband at home. How many women have danced and worn a dance outfit in the cinema for a man or for her husband? We portrayed a love story between two protagonists."
A flight attendant’s uniform causing a storm
This comes after the release of "The Ladder and the Snake 2" on a digital platform, which led to severe criticism directed at actress Asmaa Galal on social media, escalating to threats of suing her following her appearance wearing the uniform of "EgyptAir" flight attendants, which issued a statement expressing its severe disapproval of the scene and confirming that it will take the necessary legal measures against Asmaa Galal and the film's creators.
The film's crisis escalated notably over the past two days, especially after reaching a decisive statement phase and legal actions against the film's creators for undermining societal values, including lawyer Haitham Mohamed Bassam filing a complaint against Tarek El Aryaan, Amr Youssef, and Asmaa Galal, based on the "film containing scenes and phrases with improper implications".
"Unhealthy opinions".. and a major company getting "entangled"
Critic Magda Khairallah condemned the attacks on Asmaa Galal, due to some describing her as "bold" based on her scenes within the movie, asserting that such opinions are not peaceful and not healthy at all for the cinematic scene, and there's a segment of the audience that attacks any actress just for wearing a dance costume.
Meanwhile, critic Tarek El Shenawy, commented on his Facebook account regarding the press statement issued due to Asmaa Galal wearing the official flight attendant uniform, saying: "I wish EgyptAir, a company of such size and history, had not gotten involved in issuing this statement which aims deadly arrows at art when it lacks a sense of humor."
He continued: "I hope that Egypt's venerable institutions do not succumb to such trivialities moved by a voice that hates and resents art emerging from social media under the guise of protecting morals.. We need to reset the rhythm. Art in all its forms thrives and breathes in this margin of flexibility, which unfortunately, we are losing day by day."
It is worth noting that the movie "The Ladder and the Snake 2" stars Amr Youssef, Asmaa Galal, Dhafer L'Abidine, and is a story, direction, and production by Tarek El Aryaan. The script and dialogue are by Ahmed Hosni.
