Khaberni - Syrian actress Sulaf Fawakherji expressed her strong discontent with the continuous circulation of news and statements frequently attributed to her on social media platforms, confirming that most of them "have nothing to do with the truth."
Fawakherji said that what is happening has become not just "a misunderstanding or professional error" but has turned into a state of media chaos and random republication of unreliable content, where news is circulated as fabricated or fragmented as if they were established facts, without any verification or referring back to her as the primary source.
She pointed out that the danger does not lie only in the rumor itself but in the way it is interacted with, where she described some of the comments on these news as full of preemptive attack and offense, even before reading the content or verifying its accuracy, considering this reflects "a social media culture based on impulse rather than understanding."
She added that she often avoids responding or engaging in disputes because she sees that it does not change anything in an environment "self-sufficient in belief and interpretation". However, she confirmed that her silence was misinterpreted by some, which encouraged – in her words – the continuation of lying and fabricating and circulating baseless news.
She also expressed her astonishment at well-known media pages republishing this material without the slightest verification or contacting her, despite there being clear and easy channels to verify any information, considering that this behavior raises significant question marks about professionalism and media responsibility.
She affirmed that crossing these limits is no longer acceptable to her, and the repetition of these practices pushes her to consider responding more clearly and decisively in the next phase, adding in a sharp tone that "the disregard for the truth can no longer be ignored."
She concluded by pointing out that she had previously clarified through an official post that any content not issued from her verified pages has nothing to do with her, but she said regretfully that "the problem is that some do not read, even within the media circles themselves," considering that this reflects a deeper crisis in verifying before publishing.
