Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs welcomed the consensus adoption by the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) of the decision concerning the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls, under the item titled "Occupied Palestine", during its 222nd session on Friday in Paris.

The ministry's spokesperson, Fouad Al-Majali, explained that the decision taken by the Executive Council on Friday reiterated the demand for Israel, the occupying power, to cease all its unilateral unlawful and illegal actions in the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls that aim at targeting the exceptional cultural and historical value of Jerusalem and endangering the cultural heritage of the city, and considers them null and void.

Al-Majali said that this decision reaffirms the constants of the Jordanian position regarding the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls including the Islamic and Christian holy sites, and the preservation of the historical and legal status therein, and it reiterates the contents of the previous decisions issued by the Executive Council and the decisions of the World Heritage Committee concerning Jerusalem.
