Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality has begun implementing Phase Four of the development project for the Al-Mahatta area, as part of the Strategic National Amman Neighborhoods Development Project.
The Executive Director of the Amman Neighborhoods and Tourist Trails Development Project, Engineer Mohammad Abu Zeitoon, stated that Phase Four of the project includes the expansion of Al-Jaysh Al-A'la Street, whereby the municipality will remove all encroachments and structures within the street's regulatory scope after completing all legal procedures and ensuring public safety.
Abu Zeitoon added that the municipality has provided donations for housing and eviction compensation to the owners of the establishments that will be removed, in addition to eviction donations for the owners of the establishments to be removed, and eviction compensation for neighboring houses as part of public safety measures until the removal work is completed.
The municipality also monitored the humanitarian situations of the families who were notified of the eviction, taking into consideration the end of the first semester for school students to ensure no evictions occur during the school term.
Abu Zeitoon clarified that Phase Four will be implemented within three months.
It should be noted that the project, which has completed three phases, aims to implement traffic improvements for Al-Jaysh Street and Rafifan Al-Majali Street, establish new infrastructure for the area including sidewalks, lighting, and stormwater drainage, as well as public plazas, parking spaces, urban spaces, and aesthetic work along Al-Jaysh Street. The project also includes the creation of Al-Mahatta park and playground.
