Three students from Karak, at the EZRobotKit Academy have achieved success through their smart space suit (AstroSuit) project.
The project's success includes Layan Al-Hawari, Hani Al-Mahameed, and Yarub Al-Batoush, working on a project utilizing artificial intelligence.
The AstroSuit project involves a smart spacesuit developed as a prototype that uses artificial intelligence and Arduino technologies to enhance astronaut safety during space missions.
The suit contains a range of smart sensors that work together to monitor the astronaut's health, psychological, and environmental conditions in real-time. A heart rate sensor is used to monitor the astronaut’s health and detect any abnormal changes early. Artificial intelligence techniques are also used to analyze facial expressions to assess psychological states like stress or fatigue, which helps in taking preventive measures in a timely manner.
The suit also includes gas sensors to monitor the presence of harmful gases such as carbon monoxide, as well as temperature and humidity sensors to track environmental conditions inside and outside the suit, ensuring a safe and suitable environment for breathing and working.
Additionally, the helmet is equipped with a special motor to purify air and prevent fog on the glass facilitating improved air circulation inside the helmet, maintaining clear vision and enhancing the astronaut's focus during missions.
This project can also be used for monitoring the health status of patients.
The system relies on Arduino as the main control unit, gathering data from all sensors and processing it, then sends it to the artificial intelligence system that analyzes it and makes smart decisions, such as activating audio or vibration alerts in case of danger or malfunction.
Touch sensors have been integrated to allow the astronaut to quickly interact with the system and easily send emergency signals.
The project aims to present a practical concept of a smart spacesuit that combines safety, intelligence, and ease of use, making AstroSuit an innovative solution that could be developed in the future to be part of modern space exploration technologies.
