A strong depression affects Jordan this evening with warnings of floods and winds

Khaberni - The Kingdom will be gradually affected on Monday by an atmospheric depression centered over the island of Cyprus; causing the weather to shift from partly cloudy to cloudy, and rain will occur in the north and central regions and parts of the southwestern regions. During late night hours, the rain may be heavy at times and may be accompanied by thunder and hail in parts of the north and central regions, with southwesterly winds active with strong gusts reaching speeds of (60-70) km/h.

By the dawn of Tuesday, the impact of the atmospheric depression and the accompanying extremely cold air mass of polar origin will deepen, causing a noticeable drop in temperatures, making the weather very cold and cloudy, with rainfall expected in most regions. The rain may occasionally be heavy and might be accompanied by thunder and hail in some areas.

There is also a possibility of snow showers on high mountain peaks which might sometimes mix with rain, with a potential for limited accumulation on the high southern peaks (Al Sharah), and the winds will be active westerly with strong gusts reaching speeds of (60-70) km/h, causing dust storms in the desert areas, and during the night the precipitation will gradually weaken.

The Meteorological Department warns of the danger of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, and a decrease in horizontal visibility due to fog, especially over mountainous elevations, and the possibility of reduced visibility in desert areas due to dust.

The forecasting authority also warns of the danger of strong wind speeds in many areas and the accompanying strong gusts.

Citizens are advised to take precautions and be aware of the risk of slipping on the roads during precipitation, and to use heating devices safely.
