Delegations from Hamas and Israel Arrive in Sharm elSheikh

Khaberni - A new round of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel, with the participation and sponsorship of Egypt, the United States, and Qatar, will start on Monday evening in Sharm el-Sheikh to discuss the implementation mechanisms of President Donald Trump's plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza and reaching a comprehensive ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

A knowledgeable Palestinian official revealed in statements to "Al-Sharq" channel that the Hamas delegation, led by Khalil al-Hayya, will head from Cairo to Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday evening, while the Israeli delegation, led by Ron Dermer, Minister of Strategic Affairs in Benjamin Netanyahu's government, is expected to arrive later that night.

The official explained that the negotiations will focus initially on an immediate ceasefire as a preliminary step towards a lasting truce, alongside discussions on the withdrawal of Israeli forces from cities and populated areas in the sector and the opening of roads between the north and south of Gaza to enable the return of displaced persons. The files on the table also include the process of prisoner exchange between the two sides, with expectations that the current round of negotiations will last for several days.

The source added that technical committees from Hamas will join the main delegation on Monday evening to participate in discussing the detailed aspects of the agreement, noting that the negotiations will also address the issue of forming an independent Palestinian committee to manage the sector, in addition to discussing a proposal to form an international force to monitor the implementation of the agreement and ensure security.

The Palestinian official confirmed that the movement is ready to reach a comprehensive and phased agreement, urging Washington to press the Netanyahu government to prevent the obstruction of Trump's plan and accelerate the arrival at a final agreement.

According to the sources, the negotiations will also cover the criteria of the exchange deal, with Hamas insisting on including senior and long-term Palestinian prisoners within the list to be released, based on seniority and age criteria, in exchange for the release of all living and deceased Israeli detainees.

On his part, US President Donald Trump stated in a post on "Truth Social" that technical teams will meet again in Egypt on Monday to discuss the final details, confirming that "the first phase of the plan" will be completed this week and will include a ceasefire and an initial Israeli withdrawal, in exchange for the release of the Israeli detainees.

Trump added that "time is the judge," warning that any delay in the agreement could lead to "massive bloodshed that no one wants."

Hamas had announced in an official statement the arrival of its negotiation delegation to Egypt on Sunday evening, asserting its readiness to negotiate around the mechanisms of ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces, and prisoner exchange. Conversely, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister announced that a governmental delegation would head to Egypt on Monday to participate in the talks.

The negotiations in Sharm el-Sheikh are expected to concentrate on laying out precise executive arrangements for the deal, including a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas, scheduling daily hours for stopping military and drone aircraft movements during the exchange process, along with agreeing on a timetable for the release of Palestinian prisoners.

This round of negotiations follows Hamas's initial approval of Trump's 20-point plan, which includes ending the war and a full Israeli withdrawal from the sector, in exchange for the release of Israeli prisoners and the release of about 250 prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment and 1700 detainees from Gaza.
