Khaberni - MP Khamees Hussein Attiyah, head of the Will and Islamic National bloc, directed an appeal to Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan, requesting justice for thousands of Jordanian graduates still stuck in the "stockpile" of the Civil Service Bureau for many years without appointments.
Attiyah said in an official letter addressed to the Prime Minister that a large number of graduates have been graduated for more than ten to forty years, and are still on the waiting lists with no clear prospects for employment, while job opportunities are turning towards recent graduates, without consideration for seniority or the long years of waiting.
Attiyah added that the continuation of this situation has generated a feeling of frustration and loss of confidence among this group, who have exerted their effort in acquiring education in service of the country, calling on the government to deal with their case from a standpoint of justice and equal opportunities, which form a fundamental cornerstone in the pathway to modernizing the public sector launched by the government.
Attiyah emphasized that addressing the file of the old graduates has become a national and social necessity, noting that ignoring their suffering reflects not only on the individuals, but on entire families who have lost hope for a fair employment opportunity despite possessing the necessary qualifications and experiences to serve the state institutions.
Attiyah demanded the Prime Minister to take a number of urgent measures, most notably:
1. Launch a national initiative to account for old graduates and identify the needs of ministries and institutions capable of accommodating them.
2. Allocating an annual percentage of government appointments for them, in recognition of their long years of waiting.
3. Revising the governmental employment mechanisms to be more just and transparent, and taking into consideration seniority and waiting years.
4. Exempting them from the age requirement in the human resources system, given their special circumstances.
Attiyah reiterated that ensuring justice for this group achieves social justice, restores trust in state employment policies, and establishes the principle of equal opportunities among all citizens.
