Khaberni - The Labor Front party condemned the significant increase in fuel prices, with rates reaching more than 14% for some types, considering that this step represents a continuation of economic policies that double the burdens on citizens amid difficult living conditions.
The party indicated in a statement issued today that it would have been preferable for the government to absorb the effects of the global rise in oil prices by reducing the taxes imposed on fuels, instead of raising them, especially since some taxes reach about 100% for some types, such as 95 octane gasoline, where the tax on each tank reaches about 11 dinars, increasing the cost of living and burdening the Jordanian citizen.
The party confirmed that fuel prices have reached unprecedented levels in Jordan, making it among the highest in the region, and even globally compared to individual income, which exacerbates the effects of inflation on purchasing power and increases the suffering of citizens, threatening social stability amid the government's continued approach of extracting money from the pockets of citizens.
The party said that while it commends the government's decisions on rationalizing expenditures with the need to follow their implementation on the ground, it also demands a reduction in taxes and an end to the approach of resorting to the citizen's pocket, who faces high prices and low income, emphasizing the need for fair economic policies that consider the purchasing power of citizens and protect their living stability.
