Khaberni - The National Committee for Dam Safety delivered its report on the safety of the dams and their readiness to receive the rainy season after visiting all dam locations in various regions of the kingdom and inspecting their readiness to handle the upcoming rainy season 2025/2026, and ensuring the safety of all these vital facilities to handle and receive the incoming quantities during the next rainy season.
According to a press statement from the Ministry of Water, the Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raed Abu Al-Saud, issued instructions today, Thursday, after receiving the report, to all workers in the water sector to deal responsibly and professionally in executing all the plans designed to handle any emergency situations or rainwater flooding in all regions of the kingdom during the upcoming rainy season and to prepare operation and control rooms in the ministry center promptly.
The Jordan Valley Authority confirmed that its technical staff had performed all the necessary maintenance, prepared them, ensured the safety of all its facilities, and cleaned the stream channels and valleys to preserve the highest possible return from the rainy seasons in various parts of the kingdom, due to the importance of these vital facilities within the national directions to expand water harvesting in providing water for all uses, developing economic life, and securing food in implementation of the economic modernization vision and the strategic water plan 2023-2040.
The National Committee for Dam Safety is a specialized national committee that includes water experts specialized in field inspection work accompanied by technicians and engineers of expertise who conduct inspections and surveys of stream channels near these dams to ensure their effectiveness and readiness in the rainy seasons and floods, monitor the dams' behavior and track readings of all instruments and measurements related to water discharge, analyze, study them and ensure these informations flow promptly to the main operation and control center at the ministry center, as well as to the national crisis management center and relevant specialized authorities.
