Khaberni - Areas in Northwest Tunisia witnessed, on Tuesday, devastating floods caused by heavy rains that inundated streets and homes.
The floods led to the disruption of traffic and induced panic among residents, at a time when drainage networks were unable to cope with the water volumes.
The National Institute of Meteorology issued a maximum alert after forecasts predicted more rains, noting that the weather conditions are still conducive for heavy rainfall in the northern and central-western regions, with expectations that it could be locally intense late at night on the northern coasts and the far northwest.
Activists on social media shared video clips showing the floods sweeping cars and inundating shops, amid fears of worsening damage if the weather continues this way.
