Khaberni - Colombian President Gustavo Petro charged US President Donald Trump with responsibility for the Israeli occupation attacks in Gaza, considering him "an accomplice in the genocide".
In a speech delivered from the presidential palace "Casa de Nariño" in the capital, Bogotá, on Monday, Petro said: "If the situation continues as it is now, in complicity with the genocide, the only place Mr. Trump deserves is prison."
He also called for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his visit to the United States, in accordance with the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court.
The court had issued two arrest warrants in 2024 against Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, on charges of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against the Palestinians.
Petro added: "The United States practically does not recognize international law. The Rome Statute clarifies what are crimes against humanity and war crimes. Anyone tried in these courts could be arrested by any country they pass through, regardless of their nationality, thus Netanyahu could even be arrested in the United States."
The Colombian President announced that his country would review the free trade agreement signed with the United States, while also confirming the cancellation of the free trade agreement with Israel.
He renewed his call for the formation of a joint army to liberate Palestine, saying: "The United Nations should not bow down to a government that colludes in genocide. Let's start moving, and we will see later if we will be alone or not."
Previously, in his speech before the United Nations General Assembly last Wednesday, Petro called for the unification of the armies of countries that reject the genocide in the Gaza Strip, in order to liberate Palestine.
Furthermore, Petro commented on Washington's decision to cancel his visa, saying: "(The United States) violates international law. It has no right to cancel the visa of anyone going to the United Nations to deliver a speech or discuss issues on its agenda. This is international law. And if Trump forgets that or does not read it himself, he should find someone to remind him," he stated.
The US State Department had announced last Friday the cancellation of Petro's visa, justifying the decision with his "reckless and incendiary" stances, accusing him of "inciting American soldiers to mutiny and use of violence".
The decision followed the Colombian President's participation in a pro-Palestine demonstration held on Friday in Times Square, New York.
Since October 7, 2023, "Israel" -with American and European support- has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, involving killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and incarceration, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
The genocide has left more than 233,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 people missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and a famine that has claimed many lives, mostly children, as well as massive destruction and erasing most of the cities and areas of the sector from the map.
