Khaberni -Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has presented to Congress a bill to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
Cruz stated that the Muslim Brotherhood is a "terrorist organization", and "provides support to its terrorist branches such as Hamas."
Cruz considered that the Muslim Brotherhood "poses a serious threat to American national security interests."
The "Washington Free Beacon" reported on Tuesday that Cruz's bill is titled "Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2025," and adopts what Cruz's team described as a "modern strategy" that focuses on targeting the group's branches rather than its undefined global structure.
According to a document distributed by Cruz’s office to Senate members, the bill grants the State Department new authority to designate Muslim Brotherhood-linked branches as terrorist organizations and requires the department to compile a comprehensive list of these entities within 90 days of the law’s enactment.
