Khaberni -The toll of the ongoing clashes in the province of Sweida has risen to 30 dead and more than 80 wounded, including children, following armed confrontations and mutual shelling, especially in the Al-Maqqus neighborhood and other areas east of the city.

The escalation came after a rapidly growing security tension between Druze militants and Bedouin tribesmen, against the backdrop of mutual detention and assault incidents. The violence led to the displacement of a large number of residents from the villages of rural Sweida, amid burning of homes and targeting of towns with shells.

This coincided with the blocking of the Damascus–Sweida road from several axes and the mobilization of armed reinforcements from rural Daraa to support the tribes, which signals an escalation of confrontations.

Due to the security conditions, the Directorate of Education in Sweida announced the postponement of the religious education exam scheduled for Monday for high school students, to a later date.
