Khaberni - The Egyptian governorate of Giza witnessed a skin-crawling crime, where an elderly woman, stripped of any mercy, killed her infant grandson and attempted to kill his older sister by injecting them with the poisonous substance "chlorine".
The incident took place inside their home in the Saqqara area, in a shocking incident that security investigations revealed was motivated by revenge against her son's wife.
The crime began to unravel after security forces received a report stating the death of an infant and the severe illness of his sister, who was rushed to the intensive care unit in critical condition. In an attempt to mislead justice, the grandmother initially claimed that the grandchildren were bitten by a snake inside the home, yet the vigilance of detectives and the repetition of strange symptoms on the surviving girl raised doubts about the circulated story.
Upon re-interrogating those involved and intensifying investigations, the grandmother fell into the trap of her own confessions, admitting she took advantage of the mother's absence to inject the two young children with the lethal "chlorine" substance to execute her vengeful plan against her son's wife due to ongoing family disputes.
In a related context, medical sources confirmed that divine care had saved the girl from her brother's fate, as she still undergoes an intensive treatment protocol in intensive care to mitigate the damage caused by the chemical substance.
For its part, the Public Prosecutor began investigations with the accused and charged her with premeditated murder and attempted murder, ordering her detention pending investigation.
On another note, in a different humanitarian incident in the Sharqia governorate, the Ministry of Social Solidarity responded to reports about the plight of an elderly grandmother taking care of 8 children after their mother abandoned them, deciding to provide urgent financial and in-kind support to the family and return the children to school, in a step to rescue the young ones from the specter of homelessness and need.
