Massacre on a gold prospecting trip 8 killed and Egyptian authorities reveal details

Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Interior devices revealed the circumstances of the bloody incident that occurred in one of the mountainous areas of Safaga city in the Red Sea province, after an unauthorized gold ore mining expedition turned into an armed brawl that resulted in the death of 8 people and injury of another.

The incident began with the circulation of posts and pictures on social media talking about clashes between groups of gold prospectors, amid news of gunfire and casualties. Immediately, the security forces began examining the incident to uncover its truth.


8 people killed
Investigations revealed that the brawl erupted on Thursday, April 30, among several individuals in a mountainous area under the jurisdiction of Safaga Police Station, due to disputes over the priority of random gold ore mining. During the escalation of clashes, one of the suspects fired rounds from an automatic weapon he possessed, resulting in the deaths of 8 individuals and the injury of another, before fleeing in a pickup truck.


The Ministry of Interior confirmed that after legalizing the procedures, several ambushes were prepared to catch the suspect, where the forces succeeded in arresting him, and it was found that he was a criminal element, and the automatic rifle and vehicle used in committing the crime were also seized.

The seized items were secured, while the competent authorities began the necessary legal actions regarding the incident
