Khaberni - The first phase events of the second edition of the Youth Political Institute Program commenced, with more than 56 young men and women representing political parties, along with activists in public work, as part of the program supporting democratic reforms in Jordan in partnership with the European Union, and in cooperation with the Dutch Institute for Multi-Party Democracy.
According to a statement issued by the commission on Saturday, the first phase is the beginning of an integrated training series that includes six courses, implemented throughout the program, where it serves as the starting point for building participants' capacities and enhancing their skills.
The program at this stage includes two courses: Democracy and Law, and Democratic Theory, with the upcoming phases continuing to complete the rest of the courses.
The program, part of the efforts made by the commission to support and empower political parties, focuses particularly on youth aged 18–35 years. Participants were selected after an evaluation and interview process, based on the turnout and positive evaluations achieved by the previous edition of 2025.
The two courses cover a number of topics, the most prominent of which are: the role of law in supporting democracy, the reciprocal relationship between them, the stages of legislating laws, oversight of their constitutionality, in addition to international treaties and agreements and the role of civil society institutions in enhancing the rule of law.
The courses also delve into concepts of democracy, transformations and democratic consolidation, types of representative and direct democracies, alongside a reading of trends in Arab political culture, and include interactive discussions and practical applications, such as simulating a water transfer project, which enhances the practical aspect for participants.
