Madaba Endowments Closing the AlHidan Mosque as a precaution due to landslides underneath

Khaberni - Dr. Issa al-Bouarid, the Director of Endowments in Madaba Governorate, confirmed that Al-Hidan Mosque in Theban district has been closed as a precaution following landslides occurring beneath the mosque to ensure the safety of worshippers.

In a press statement today, Saturday, he said that the landslides might expand at any moment according to the technical opinion, which may lead to the mosque's collapse, urging visitors of the Wadi al-Hidan area to stay away from the site until the authorities involved decide on the site's safety.

The district commissioner of Theban, Bandar Al-Zoubi, decided to close the mosque immediately after the landslides occurred until the maintenance work could be rectified and the mosque’s imam signed a personal pledge not to allow the mosque to reopen until maintenance is completed.

The Director of Endowments emphasized that the mosque's building is structurally sound and has no issues, but the landslides underneath it following the warm weather due to an unprecedented heavy rainy season threaten the entire structure of the mosque.

He explained that technical teams from the Ministry of Public Works and others from the Ministry of Endowments visited the site to assess the safety of the mosque in order to take the necessary measures.

The Wadi al-Hidan area experiences active tourism movement and is visited by thousands of citizens who enjoy the area's natural beauty, flowing waters, and green spaces that decorate the location.
