Avocado and Mango A Golden Mix Protects You from Heart Diseases

Khaberni - A recent study published in the "American Heart Association Journal" revealed that consuming one avocado and a cup of mango daily can significantly boost cardiovascular health.

The research clarified that this combination enhances the function of the vascular endothelium, which is the arteries' ability to expand and relax in response to blood flow; this is an early and significant indicator for reducing the risk of heart disease.

Results obtained from adults with prediabetes indicated that adhering to this regimen for eight weeks led to a 1% improvement in vascular dilation, a clinically significant percentage as experts believe that every 1% improvement in vascular dilation corresponds to an 8% decrease in the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Scientists attribute this positive effect to the fruits’ richness in dietary fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and monounsaturated fats, which help the body produce nitric oxide that stimulates vessels to relax and reduces oxidative stress and inflammation.

The study focuses on the idea of "nutritional synergy," where consuming both avocado and mango together provides a stronger and more effective physiological response than consuming each fruit separately, especially concerning improving diastolic blood pressure and fat metabolism.

Despite these benefits, doctors warn some groups, such as patients with chronic kidney disease or those on certain blood pressure medications, to consult their healthcare provider due to the high potassium levels in these fruits.

Experts also noted that the study was limited in scope and funded by Avocado and Mango Production Councils; this requires more research to confirm the findings. To incorporate this combination into the diet, specialists suggest adding them to salads, preparing "smoothies," or making a "salsa" that combines both fruits to enhance the medical benefit and flavor simultaneously.
