Khaberni - The Saudi Football Federation announced on Thursday the appointment of Greek Giorgios Donis, coach of the Gulf team, as the coach of the first national team, succeeding Hervé Renard, less than two months before the launch of the 2026 World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Saudi national team will be the fifth stop for Donis in Saudi fields, which he first entered in 2015 as a coach for Hilal and won with it the King's Cup, the Crown Prince Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup, then moved on to coach Al-Wahda, Al-Fateh, and Al-Khaleej.
Donis is the first Greek coach in the history of the Saudi national team, and the third for "the Green" during the last year and a half, after the Italian Roberto Mancini and Hervé Renard.
