Khaberni - US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the Iranian authorities had backed down from carrying out execution sentences against 8 female protesters, noting that this decision was in response to a direct request from him.
Trump described in a post on his "Truth Social" platform the news as "very good news," explaining that he was informed about the cancellation of the executions that were scheduled for Wednesday night.
Trump continued: "The eight female protesters who were scheduled to be executed tonight in Iran will not be executed. Four of them will be released immediately, while the other four will be sentenced to a month in prison."
The US President added: "I greatly appreciate Iran's and its leaders' response to my request, as President of the United States, and their cancellation of the planned execution."
On Tuesday, Trump reposted content from activist "Eyal Yaakov" featuring images of eight women, and addressed the leaders in Tehran: "Please, do not harm them! This would be a great start to our negotiations." According to CNN, Trump was looking to use this issue as a goodwill gesture before the anticipated Islamabad negotiations.
