Khaberni - Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan said that national mega projects contribute to enhancing the sources of Jordan's strength and consolidating its economic immunity, in the context of his comments on the signing of the final technical and legal agreement for the national carrier project, in preparation for concluding the financial closure next July.
Additionally, the Prime Minister stated on Tuesday, "We have achieved milestones in advanced stages within several national mega projects despite all the surrounding regional circumstances."
He noted that the national mega projects are the fruit of the directives of His Majesty the King.
Hassan explained that the project would provide about 40% of the drinking water needs of the kingdom, adding that he expects the water pumping to start in 2030, forming a main tributary in enhancing national water security.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the 300 million cubic meters of water that the project will supply annually is close to the total capacity of all the kingdom’s dams, and about three times what the Disi project produces. This will increase the water supply rate in the kingdom to 40% of what it is now.
He mentioned that the annual per capita water share would double from 60 to 110 cubic meters annually, and it will contribute to increasing the number of water supply days from one day to three days a week, and in all governorates of the kingdom.
