Khaberni - The Asian Football Confederation has set Wednesday, May 9th as the new date for the draw ceremony of the 2027 Asian Cup finals, scheduled in Saudi Arabia.
The draw ceremony was initially planned for April 11th in the Saudi capital, but the date was postponed due to the current situation in the Middle East, to ensure the attendance and participation of all relevant parties and national associations and partners.
The Asian Confederation explained at that time that the decision was made "to ensure that the event is conducted in a manner befitting the status of the continent's largest championships."
With 23 teams out of 24 qualified for the finals, the draw will distribute the teams into six groups, each containing four teams, in preparation for determining the competition path hosted by Saudi Arabia for the first time in its history from January 7th to February 5th, 2027.
The last spot in the tournament will be decided on June 4th through a playoff between Lebanon and Yemen to determine the final qualifier for the finals in Group Two.
The Asian Confederation expressed its great appreciation for the local organizing committee for the 2027 Saudi Arabia Asian Cup and the Asian football family in general, for their cooperation and understanding during the past period, confirming that details regarding the start time of the draw ceremony will be announced later through the official channels of the continental federation.
