Khaberni - It is expected that Jordan and the Levant will be affected on Friday by a Khamsini low-pressure system, with temperatures expected to be about 10 degrees Celsius warmer than usual. As the day progresses, typical Khamsini weather conditions will prevail with the weather being relatively hot and generally dusty, especially in the afternoon, and hot in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea areas.
Gradually, it is expected that a state of atmospheric instability will begin to affect large areas of the Levant, with thunderstorm clouds, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours, intensifying at night. This makes it likely for thunder showers to occur in several areas, with locally heavy rainfall in some geographical zones and a possibility of hail showers locally.
Winds are expected to be light to moderate easterly in the early day, shifting to active southwesterly in many areas by the afternoon, which increases the dust levels in the atmosphere, making the weather noticeably dusty.
Thunderstorm clouds on Friday will be accompanied by what is known as downburst winds that stir up dust storms, especially in desert areas It is also expected that thunderstorm clouds will accompany severe downburst winds in their areas, potentially exceeding 70 km/h, leading to dense dust waves and sandstorms that originate in the vicinity of thunderstorm clouds due to strong accompanying downburst winds. These storms then gradually expand to affect regions far from the thunderstorm zone, possibly reaching cities.
For example, a thunderstorm could develop in the eastern desert regions, generating severe downburst winds that stir up dust and form a sandstorm that begins locally but soon spreads quickly and unexpectedly to broader areas, including urban centers. These winds require securing outdoor belongings and driving with extreme caution during their occurrence, especially in desert regions.
It is also expected that the Gulf of Aqaba will witness a rise in wave height during the mentioned period, due to the activity of winds associated with the weather conditions, leading to noticeably rough seas and an increase in wave height compared to normal days.
The chance for thunderstorm clouds begins locally in the coming days before intensifying on Friday
Additionally, clouds will appear at medium and high altitudes on Wednesday and Thursday, and in desert areas, thunderclouds may develop, accompanied by chances of rain in those areas and the activation of dust-stirring winds locally.
