Khaberni - San Francisco police arrested two suspects on charges of negligent discharge of a firearm following a potential shooting incident outside the home of Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI.
A statement issued by the San Francisco Police Department reported that authorities arrested Amanda Tom (25 years) and Mohammed Tariq Hussein (23 years) after responding to a report of a potential shooting at a home in the Rushan Hill area, at precisely 2:56 AM on Sunday.
The police were informed that a vehicle carrying two individuals passed by the house at the same time of the incident, and investigators later identified the vehicle as belonging to Amanda, according to a report by "Newsweek" magazine, which was reviewed by "Arabiya Business".
The police statement did not mention Altman's name, but the San Francisco Standard newspaper identified the incident location, based on the initial police report.
According to the initial report from the police as stated by the "San Francisco Standard", a Honda sedan occupied by two individuals stopped outside Altman's home extending from Chestnut Street to Lombard Street.
The report also indicated that the passenger apparently fired in the direction of Lombard Street from Altman’s home. Security personnel at the residence reported hearing gunshots, and surveillance cameras recorded the incident, according to the report.
However, a spokesperson for "OpenAI" stated in remarks to Newsweek magazine that the shooting incident was not related to Altman, and that there is no evidence of any link or targeting of Altman's home.
This incident comes just days after Altman's home was targeted with a Molotov cocktail, which ignited a fire at an external gate, where police arrested a 20-year-old individual in that incident. The man also made threats to the "OpenAI" headquarters.
Altman has become a prominent figure in global discussions on the economic, political, and social impacts of artificial intelligence, placing him and his company at the center of broader public tensions.
