The Kremlin American blockade of the Strait of Hormuz will harm markets

Khaberni - The Kremlin criticized on Monday the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that the United States intends to impose a blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, noting that this would harm global markets.

The U.S. military announced that it will block navigation to and from Iranian ports starting at 10 a.m. Eastern Time (1400 GMT) on Monday, a move that will prevent about two million barrels of Iranian oil per day from entering global markets, exacerbating the supply shortage.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said many aspects of this proposal remain unclear.

The blockade, announced by the United States as intending to be imposed on Iranian ports after negotiations between them failed in Islamabad, will start on Monday, leading to a rise in oil prices.

According to Washington, the blockade begins at 14:00 GMT on Monday, and affects all ships headed to or departing from Iranian ports.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the timing and wrote on the Truth Social platform "The United States will impose a blockade on the ships entering and leaving Iranian ports from April 13 at 10 a.m." Washington time.
