Axios Mediators Hasten to Revive USIran Negotiations

Khaberni - Axios reported that Pakistani, Egyptian, and Turkish mediators will continue their talks with Washington and Tehran in the coming days, urging them to resume negotiations and end the confrontation.
A regional source told the American site that the parties still believe that an agreement is possible, and the mediators hope to bridge the gaps enabling a new round of negotiations before the ceasefire ends on April 21.
In a related development, sources revealed that US President Donald Trump is considering resuming strikes against Iran if the naval blockade imposed by Washington does not alter Tehran’s course, with the possibility of targeting infrastructure he had previously threatened to bomb before the truce was announced.

An American official clarified that the blockade, like the decision to withdraw from the talks in Pakistan, is part of the ongoing negotiations, aiming to prevent Iran from using the Strait of Hormuz as leverage in the talks.

Commenting on the negotiations, the regional source said that the parties are not in a complete deadlock, describing the atmosphere as similar to a "market" where both sides exchange bargains, confirming that the door has not yet closed.

Well-informed sources revealed that the main gaps during the negotiations, which lasted 21 hours, focused on the nuclear issue, specifically around the US demands for Iran to freeze its uranium enrichment and abandon its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, in addition to the dispute over the size of the frozen funds Tehran wants released in exchange for its nuclear concessions.

The US Vice President, J.D. Vance, who led the negotiation team, announced that the talks were tough but evolved into a friendly and productive exchange of proposals, confirming that he left the door open hoping for Iran's return to the negotiation table.
