Israel Ignites Before Washington No Ceasefire with Hezbollah

Khaberni - The Israeli ambassador in Washington, Yehiel Litor, informed his Lebanese counterpart, Nada Hammada Mouawad, of his country's categorical refusal to discuss any ceasefire with "Hezbollah" during the American-Iranian negotiations.
Times of Israel quoted the ambassador as saying: "Israel refuses to discuss a ceasefire with Hezbollah".

The Israeli ambassador in Washington, Yehiel Litor, and his Lebanese counterpart, Nada Hammada Mouawad, held a phone conversation where they agreed to hold a meeting between them on Tuesday at the U.S. State Department headquarters.

Litor said that Israel "agreed to start formal peace negotiations" with the Lebanese government, with whom it has no diplomatic relations.

He added in a statement, "Israel refused to discuss a ceasefire with the Hezbollah organization, which continues to attack Israel and represents the main obstacle to peace between the two countries".

Earlier, the Lebanese President's office reported that the ambassadors agreed to meet at the State Department building on April 14 to discuss ceasefire negotiations.

Axios reported in an article that Lebanon, through American intermediaries, requested Israel to suspend its air strikes on its territory before starting the talks.

According to the site, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not made a final decision on the matter.

The Hezbollah movement resumed fighting on Thursday after Israel conducted intense air raids on Beirut and towns in southern Lebanon the previous day.
