Jordan Condemns BenGvirs Raid on AlAqsa Mosque and Describes it as Unacceptable Provocation

Khaberni - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the raid by the extreme Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir on Monday, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, under the protection of the Israeli occupation police; a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, a condemnable escalation and an unacceptable provocation, and a violation of the sanctity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and of the historical and legal status quo there.

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Al-Majali, reiterated the kingdom's condemnation and absolute rejection of the extreme Israeli minister's raid on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, in a blatant breach of international law, and of Israel's obligations as the occupying power in occupied Jerusalem, and an attempt to impose a temporal and spatial division, stressing that Israel has no sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Al-Majali renewed the kingdom's condemnation of Israel's continuing actions of locking the doors of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif in front of worshippers and restricting freedom of worship; a blatant violation of international law and of the historical and legal status quo and its obligations as the occupying power, warning of the dangers of its continuation. Al-Majali affirmed that the entire area of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which spans 144 dunams, is strictly a place of worship for Muslims, and that the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is the legal authority exclusively responsible for managing the affairs of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, and organizing entry into it.
