Greater Amman Municipality Begins Rehabilitation of Amman National Park to Establish 3 New Tourist Trails

Khaberni - The Greater Amman Municipality began on Monday the field inspection works at Amman National Park, as part of a plan to rehabilitate and develop the park and enhance the level of services provided there.

Mohammad Abu Zaitoun, the Executive Director of Amman Neighborhood Projects and Tourist Trails, explained that specialized technical and engineering teams conducted a comprehensive field tour to study the establishment of 3 new trails within the park including the Cultural Trail, the Historical Trail, and the Sports Trail, aimed at enriching the visitor experience and diversifying activities within the park.

He noted that the specialized teams include a number of departments from the municipality such as the Urban Heritage Department, the Directorate of Roads, the Department of Tenders, the Department of Parks and Desertification Combat, the Tourist Trails Team, and the Geographic Information Systems team.

He clarified that the proposed trails will consider environmental aspects and public safety, and will be equipped with informational signs and introductory data, to serve as a recreational and educational outlet for residents of the capital and its visitors. He pointed out that work is ongoing to implement an action plan for what will be executed on the ground during the third quarter of this year.

In turn, Na'ima Qattanani, the Deputy of the Public Works Sector at Amman Municipality, pointed out that the project is one of the most important projects that the municipality is developing to boost domestic tourism and develop the concept of tourist trails in the city in partnership with relevant institutions and ministries.

She mentioned that the goal of creating tourist trails inside Amman National Park is to combine the historical, cultural, and environmental dimensions and provide a tourist and educational experience for visitors through exploring sites of historical and cultural value within the park, and to enhance the concept of a healthy city through creating walking paths.
