Khaberni - The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum mourned on Friday evening the Egyptian engineer who met his demise in the UAE after missile debris fell on an oil installation, indicating that he was a leader at a government-owned company.
The Ministry stated on Friday evening that the engineer, Hossam Sadek Khalifa, the Assistant General Manager of Quality at Petrojet – UAE branch, passed away while performing his duties at the company's site in Habshan, Abu Dhabi, during evacuation operations following the outbreak of two fires at the site due to the falling debris from a missile interception by the UAE air defenses.
It also noted that the evacuation resulted in minor injuries to four other individuals, including two employees from the company of Egyptian nationality: Yasser Jumaah Ahmad Abdel-Salaam (Lab Supervisor), and Mohamed Ibrahim Ali Abdel Rahman (Civil Quality Control Engineer), who received necessary treatment and left the hospital.
The statement mentioned that the Egyptian petroleum sector mourns "a loyal son and an outstanding cadre, recalling with appreciation the deceased's professional journey, adorned with loyalty, dedication, and commitment".
Earlier on Friday, the Abu Dhabi Media Office announced in a statement that the relevant authorities in the Emirate were dealing with incidents of rocket debris falls at Habshan gas facilities and the Al-Ajban area, after a successful interception by the air defenses.
It clarified later that the incident resulted in the death of an Egyptian national during the evacuation of the site, in addition to injuries to four people with minor wounds, two of Pakistani nationality and two of Egyptian nationality.
