Khaberni - The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation announced that Al-Ahmadi Port Refinery was targeted by drones, which led to fires erupting in several operational units.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation stated in a statement: "Al-Ahmadi Port Refinery was targeted by a sinful drone attack early this morning, which led to fires erupting in several operational units."
The corporation added that emergency and firefighting teams have started implementing response plans and are working to contain the fires and prevent them from spreading.
It also noted that no human injuries have been recorded and that precautionary measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the workers and protect the facilities.
It also confirmed that it continues to coordinate with the Public Authority for Environmental Affairs to monitor and track air quality in the areas surrounding the refinery and so far no negative environmental effects from the attack have been recorded.
The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation emphasized its full commitment to the highest standards of security and safety, and continues to take all measures to ensure operational continuity and protect lives and properties.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army announced that the Kuwaiti air defenses were working to counter missile attacks and hostile drones, and if explosions are heard, it is due to the air defense systems intercepting enemy attacks.
In turn, Brigadier Jidaan Fadel, the spokesman for the National Guard, said that there is no truth to the information circulating on some social media regarding the possibility of a radiation leak in the country. Confirming that readings in the atmosphere and territorial waters of the State of Kuwait are within normal rates.
