AsSafadi emphasizes the need to adhere to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza

Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi received on Tuesday the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance the prospects of cooperation and coordination between Jordan and the International Committee of the Red Cross, in addition to the ongoing preparations for the high-level conference on humanitarian action in wars, which Jordan is preparing to host in the last quarter of this year after Jordan, Brazil, South Africa, China, France, and Kazakhstan launched the global initiative with the International Committee of the Red Cross in 2024 to enhance political commitment to international humanitarian law.

Safadi and Spoljaric discussed the implications of the serious escalation taking place in the region and the efforts to end it, as well as the developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Safadi emphasized the necessity of adhering to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, the entry of sufficient and sustainable humanitarian aid without obstacles to end the ongoing humanitarian disaster in the sector, the necessity of stopping the illegitimate Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, which constitutes a violation of international law, and warned of Israel's continued restriction of the right to worship for Muslims and Christians in occupied Jerusalem.
