In light of the accelerated transformations and successive regional events witnessed by the region, national unity in Jordan emerges as a fundamental pillar for resilience and stability, and rallying around the wise Hashemite leadership led by His Majesty King Abdullah II is a matter beyond dispute, but rather a lifeline that preserves Jordan, its people, and its land in the face of challenges.
National unity… a safety valve in the face of challenges
Jordan has proven, throughout its history, that it is resilient against all those who wish it harm, relying on the cohesion of its internal front and the awareness of its people, alongside the wisdom of its leadership in crisis management.
Jordan is resilient to crises with the cohesion of its internal front
As the pace of conflicts in the region escalates, the data changes daily, and the cost of wars has risen to an unprecedented level, hence the bill of conflicts is no longer limited to the warring parties but has extended to include neighboring countries, politically, economically, and security-wise.
Costly war… a bill that surpasses the conflict parties
Estimations suggest that the ongoing wars in the region cost the warring parties billions of dollars annually, both in direct military spending and losses in infrastructure and the energy sector, while neighboring countries bear additional burdens due to regional disturbances.
3 million dinars daily… unprecedented pressure on the energy sector
In this context, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabshe, confirmed that the regional tensions and the current war cost the energy sector in Jordan about 3 million Jordanian dinars daily, reflecting the magnitude of the pressure the national economy faces, especially with the impact on supply chains and rising import costs.
Strait of Hormuz… a pressure card controlling the course of global energy
At the heart of this equation, the Strait of Hormuz emerges as a critically important geopolitical pressure card, through which a significant part of the global oil supply passes, giving Iran a direct influence on international markets and making any escalation in this region a decisive factor in determining oil price directions.
Miscalculations… why they didn't materialize on the ground
On the political and military analysis front, the unfolding events reveal that some American estimates did not align with the reality on the ground, as they were built on assumptions that targeting the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, might lead to a rapid collapse of the regime or spark an internal revolution, which did not happen, given the continued cohesion of the Iranian state institutions.
Diplomacy of reason… Jordanian movements to contain the escalation
Amid these challenges, Jordan continues to pursue a policy based on the language of reason and dialogue, recognizing that slipping into a comprehensive confrontation would only lead to further chaos, and the diplomatic tours led by His Majesty the King in the Gulf countries and the world are part of efforts to reduce escalation and bring parties back to the negotiation table.
Economic drain… oil at the heart of the crisis
Economically, these situations have directly impacted the energy sector, where oil prices have experienced sharp fluctuations due to fears of supply disruption, particularly with the sensitivity of vital passages.
Agriculture, industry, and tourism… sectors paying the price
The agriculture, industry, and tourism sectors have also been affected by the rising costs of production and transportation, while the movement of tourism in many countries of the region has declined due to security tensions, negatively reflecting on revenues.
Open scenarios… where does the war head?
As for the future of the conflict, it remains open to several possibilities, either continuing the state of mutual exhaustion or reaching phase agreements that alleviate the severity of escalation without ending it entirely.
No victor in wars… losses affect everyone
Ultimately, the facts confirm that wars do not produce victors as much as they deepen economic and political losses and increase instability in the region.
Jordan—a model of equilibrium… amid challenges and solutions
Amid these challenges, Jordan continues to maintain its balance, grounded in its national unity and wise leadership, and adhering to its role in advocating for dialogue as the sole option to spare the region from further crises.
